How do you make working out every day is feasible?
I really like Huberman’s Fitness Toolkit. I feel it’s the ultimate starter guide for absolute newbies and experienced gym goers alike. In 2 hours, you go from zero to having enough of an understanding what you should be doing and why.
In short though: make sure to alternate daily resistance/weight training with hiit/cardio stuff.
In the real world, if long term health is something you’re interested in, there really is no option of doing just weight training. Our bodies were never designed to do just one thing and for all systems to be functioning in a harmony, we really can’t neglect any method of training.
Excessive cardio/hiit causes excessive cortisol and wears down muscle and the CNS.
Doing strength training alone means you simply don’t get the benefits you would be getting from more movement such as walking, which is now commonly referred to as “The Miracle Pill”.
My current routine consists of 3 resistance training days, 3 HIIT days and 1 low cardio range day (usually walking or elliptical trainer).
Why would you want to?
I’ve noticed that I tend to feel better about myself if I have done some physical activity on a given day.
By looking at my activity stats, I’ve noticed that I’m more likely to not go to the gym, after 1 or 2 days of not going to the gym. So most of my streak-breakers happen after weekends or other events that break my flow.
Missing one day is fine most of the time, but missing two or three for whatever reason, often means that I’m gonna stop going to the gym for a while.
This is incredibly frustrating as I tend to regain a lot of weight very quickly the moment physical activity reduces.
So skipping a week of gym can set me back months worth of weight loss.
However if going to the gym every morning after I wake up is part of my routine, just like brushing teeth, it really doesn’t feel that hard to go to the gym.
There is no discussion, no trying to weasel out. I am committed, the contract has been signed, I’m simply executing it in the mornings.
