Project 50 #20/50

I’ve been toying with ChatGPT for a few days now and it’s been nothing short of breathtaking. I’ve played with chat bots before, I know how convincing they can be.

But this is different. World shakingly different.

I don’t want to be all doom and gloom with predictions of mass unemployment and all software devs becoming irrelevant very quickly, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

I gave it code, good code and the AI improved it. Bad code and it rewrote it to be great. In seconds.

I asked it to generate code based on a single sentence and it gave me perfect react components that do exactly what was asked of it.

The winds of change are upon us. Today a dev is nearly worthless if they don’t know how to google to find answers quickly. I believe ChatGPT or similar AI will be irreplaceable to developers.

Very soon.

I leave you today with this short poem AI wrote:

Singing in the rain,
My voice lifted high,
The cool drops on my skin,
A symphony in the sky.

Twirling and dancing,
I let the joy take flight,
The rain and my voice,
A beautiful, soaring sight.

The rain may be cold,
But my heart is aglow,
Singing in the rain,
A feeling I’ll always know.

So I’ll keep singing,
As the rain falls down,
A happy melody,
In this beautiful, wet town.
