Project 50 #4/50

In life, there are few 100% certainties, other than the fact that our lives will end at some point.

I feel one more thing is also true — sooner or later, life will force you to become physically active. It may be tomorrow, it may be in 50 years, by yourself or with a doctors note, all of us will have to do some physical activities in order to reduce pain, increase mobility, fix some illness that we will inevitably get.

The older and frailer we become, the harder it’s going to be.

So if it’s inescapable (given you’re interested in having some mobility and comfort of living) — why not start now?

The sooner physical activity becomes a part of your daily grind, the easier it’s gonna be to start and maintain.

This clicked in my mind a while ago and even weight loss aside, just being physically active is now one of the cornerstones of my daily life.

We all know this. We may ignore it, but we do know this somewhere deep down inside of us.

Yet consciously or unconsciously, we choose to not do anything about it.

Such is the cruel destiny of man. Every life a tragedy.

Capable of unimaginable greatness, yet never even dreaming of attaining it.

Because reaching for the stars and failing hurts now.

But the regret of never having tried, when it’s too late, will turn you bitter, resentful and will hurt way more.

I believe that many of the worlds problems are down to this one simple point — we all know we could be better, we should be better, yet we are not… And often don’t even try to work on ourselves.

So we are frustrated with ourselves (deeply). We are frustrated with our loved ones. We are frustrated with the people we see walking around us. We see this potential all around us. Frustratingly just out of reach.

This kind of stuff loops through my mind too often, I think it’s one of the things that has kept me sane, yet somewhat semi-depressed throughout the years.

Like where do you start? How do you become better? Most of the books I’ve read point to focusing on little things and doing them to the point of satisfaction. Clean your room. Clean your home. Clean your workplace. Make your environment as nice as it can possibly be. Then find the next thing that stands out to you/irritates your glance.

Dress well, groom yourself, be pleasant and polite, become the best you you can possibly be.

Make a habit of improving some part of yourself and your world at least a little bit every day and who knows, maybe some years down the line, we’ll all wake up in a better, less frustrated world, where you won’t be considered weird for smiling at a stranger.
